DIS uses their state-of-the-art VRI technology to remotely provide professional and confidential sign language interpreting, allowing accessible communication to happen quickly between the Deaf and hearing individuals. VRI is particularly beneficial when there is an emergency that cannot wait for an interpreter to travel to be on-site or in areas where the nearest certified interpreter is hours away. Our HIPAA compliant VRI services are secure and encrypted on multiple levels ensuring complete confidentiality. VRI offers several advantages over traditional on-site interpreting services, such as eliminating the wait time and travel expense, and guarantees availability of services at any time day or night. Virtual Interpreter Services also known as Video Remote Interpreting (VRI)
DIS’ VRI services can be used with all platforms: Zoom, TEAMS, Webex, Teledoc, etc. All that is required on your end is a laptop, desktop or iPad/tablet, with video & audio capabilities and high-speed internet connectivity. (Smartphones will work but is not advisable as the screen is much smaller and harder for the Deaf individual to catch the nuances of this 3-dimensional language).
Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) utilizes video conferencing technology to remotely bring a Certified Sign Language Interpreter together with the Deaf and hearing individual who are usually in the same room. However, we have provided professional Sign Language Interpreting services when the Deaf individual, the hearing individual and the Interpreter are in 3 separate locations, states or countries.
