San Antonio Independent Living Services’ (SAILS) is excited to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This year’s festival, themed ‘Living a Healthy & Independent Life!’ is coming up on Saturday, July 22.

The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Villita Assembly Building Exhibit Halls located at 401 Villita Street. The festivities will include a pep rally, learning opportunities at exhibitor booths, multiple speakers, awards and a light luncheon. State Representative Diego Bernal will be honoured at the event as the Public Servant of the Year.

Signed into law in 1990, the ADA was the most sweeping legislation to support disabled people gain equality in American history and has improved the lives of millions of people around the country. DIS is proud to be a sponsor of the event, sponsoring the ADA Anniversary Event for the last 10 years.

This year, SAILS is also partnering with the San Antonio Food Bank. The organization requests that attendees bring canned and dry goods to support the Food Bank, who feeds an astonishing 58,000 individuals each week. Some of the most wanted foods include canned luncheon meats, cereal and canned soups.
