mob-class-logoAre you, or do you know, a senior citizen that is interested in learning about how to reduce the fear and risk of falling? A Matter of Balance Class is a free, proven and evidenced-based program that has been designed to reduce the fear of falling, while increasing the activity levels among older adults. The program will emphasize practical coping strategies to lower this concern, and teach others that falls and the fear of falling can be controllable – and sometimes prevented.

Attendees will find ways to set realistic goals for increasing strength and balance, as well as ways to change their environment and surroundings to reduce fall risks. For eight weeks, the program will focus on multiple topics, including mobility issues, balance problems, multiple medications, home hazards, and deficits and exercise. The free class will be held Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to noon at Deaf Interpreter Services beginning January 10th and ending February 28th.

Deaf Interpreter Services will provide sign language interpreters and snacks for every class! For more information and registration email Crystal Tower at ctower@deaf-interpreter.com or call the DIS VP at 210-888-0039. Register by January 4th to secure your spot. Hope to see you there!
